Received FP notice today. The online tracker says following:
Current Status: Case received and pending.
On September 11, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case.
My lawyer confirmed that the application was posted on august 2nd 07.
Can anyone help me figure out when is my receipt date? And from which date can I start counting 6 months to file ac21 ?

We have requested an appointment be scheduled for you to complete biometrics. A notice will be sent when a time becomes available.
If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.
Please remember: By law, every person who is not a U.S. citizen and who is over the age of 14 must also notify the Department of Homeland Security within 10 days from when they move (persons in "A" or "G" nonimmigrant status are exempt from this requirement). If you have moved, please complete a Form AR-11 and mail it to the address shown on that form. If you do not have this form, you can download it from our website or you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 and we can order one for you. I have convinced a few people at work to do this. Their point is, if we really want to do this, let's do it in a way that works. After receiving a few deliveries, USCIS will get the idea and direct it's lobby security to refuse all further flower deliveries. What's our plan for that situation?
How did the people who delivered nuts to CBS make it happen? The delivery was actually done via UPS. It's difficult to refuse a UPS packet in the security lobby! Should we send chocolates via UPS instead? It will be much more difficult to refuse deliveries of chocolates.
Media will not let it go...ALL THEY NEED IS NEWS!!! Which is new...Let us give a shot.

Looks like this is a good idea. Even if FB2 is not current, USCIS might allow applying for 485 in such cases.

Also, this bill (as per my understanding) does not have to do anything with the illegal aliens and so should not rankle anyone. Also since Cornyn is the author, other conservatives (hopefully) will not have many issues with it and not many will argue about a bill that has to do with American Competitiveness.

Check cashed: June/14 (it shows LIN# on the back).
Querying status using this number shows a receipt date of June/12!
Samething happened to me. TSC received my application on June 6th, but when I checked my status it says that they received my application on June 11th.

please read the numbersusa article below. We have do the same thing...inform all members when the Senators/House Representatives field hearing in their cities/towns and volunteers/members can organize to meet them and explain our problems to them.
If it is possible we can show even documentary in the hearing which IV core team is preparing (if nt slideshow is also effective). Please come up with a strategy for this hearing......:)

So if USCIS takes an year to process my extension, what are the impacts to me after the current H-1B expires? Would I have issues in traveling?
While your H1 is in pending state and you go out of the country, USCIS would consider it as 'abandoned'.

Also I agree with most of what kshitijnt says but why should somebody apologize even after he has placed 4 employees and has worked for 2 years. He did not leave within couple of months for crying out loud. Some of the desi employers are so greedy and unethical that even after you slog with them for years, they still want to hold on to something just to prove they are employer/boss. This is a lesson for people wanting to help their employers business. I would tell them that it is none of their business to help their employer�s business.

I worked with a MNC for 4 yr 10 months at US soil and they ruined my GC saying that they want me more at Offshore (India ).... I got intelligence about this planning about 3 months earlier from a real good friend of mine ... So i arranged a H1B Job with a Desi consulting company in this 3 months and when they asked me to go back To India - you know what finger i've shown them.
Now this desi consulting company kept their words with salary,applied for LC quickly( because my H1 was close to 6 yrs) and i'm with them for 2.5 yrs . Now when i reached them for a employer letter for 485 they changed colors and asked me to sign a 10K bond for staying with them 1 year after GC ( which is an indeterminate period given retrogression)
Which employer would you call better ?? :)

Hi,
I did my landing last weekend. It went smoothly. At the port of entry ( at Niagra falls) Immigration officer said that my pictures that they have will not work and they took new pictures right there. The immigration offices also explained that if i am going back to US and then entering Canada again by land , all i need to show are the landing paper that he attached with my passport. If we plan to travel by air then it might cause some issues and its better to have the card. The thing that he made clear to me is that i do not need PR card to enter Canada again by land.

Yes, that helps a lot, thanks for the info. I am leaning towards abandoning the card for now; don't think I should risk a trip to Canada again if other options are available such as traveling by car. Plus if I understand it correctly I can get a travel document from the Canadian embassy too for air travel.

The person I talked to said that it's true that to enter by land, you don't need a PR card; however, you will need at least one photo ID issued by a Canadian govt agency such as a drivers license. The landing document alone won't be sufficient as it doesn't have a photograph. I am sure you dont deserve EB2, it shows clearly
"EB-2 India. This category is expected to remain unchanged or to move very slowly forward (by a week or so) in the short-term. This is mainly caused by the fact that many EB-3 India applicants (there are approximately 60,000 EB-3 India pending cases) are �porting� their priority dates into the EB-2 India category and are thus taking visa numbers.
EB2 India is slowwly becoming EB3 as thousands are porting from EB3 to EB2. Some of them are really worthy of EB2 and some of them are fradulent.
EB2 India applicants should wake up from their celebratio of a few months leap and get ready for slow movement or retro.
Guys wake up and fight to make the porting rules veryu strong if not stop porting. The rule should be if I140 for porting is denied then the applicatnt should loose his/her initial EB3 priority date also as he /she has indicated that he/she is no longer working in the position as described in EB3 labor. This will make sure that fradulent applicants cannot port from EB3 to EB2.

I see the priority date for caydee as March 2006 from the profile.. Does this mean, USCIS has already started processing cases that are going to be current from September 1st??
